Santa Fe High softball

Who would have thought that the Demonettes of Santa Fe High would be pushing their baseball brethren to be the story of the spring in Northern New Mexico? At 10-1 - which equals the baseball team's record - they are making the push to be a player in District 2AAAAA and (dare I say it?) maybe even in the state.
At the Kristen Griego Tournament in Rio Rancho today, Santa Fe High beat Rio Rancho, which has been to the state tournament every year since the state went to five classes, and Aztec, which was two wins away in the double-elimination tournament from playing for the AAAA title last year.
The Demonettes move on to championship pool play, where they face another challenge in Farmington, a team that won three straight AAAA titles earlier this decade and has been one of the state's best programs regardless of class for years.
Game time is at 8 a.m.

  2. What really got me was why did Santa Fe's softball coach cancel on Espanola? Were they afraid to lose to them? Mmm i have no clue however, Espanola is off to an ok start but they will be a team to watch as we get into the season.

  3. Because they are at the NMAA limit of 26 games.

DO you want them to play EVHS, and have to forfeit a district game?

  4. They shouldnt have scheduled the game then right?!.. Maybe the NMAA should re-write the forfeit rules.. Its odd how Espanola, out of all the schools on the schedule was cancelled, SF was on a winning streak, wake up!

  5. I guess they should have played Espanola and dropped their intercity rival, Capital, and the chance to win a city championship, NOT.

  6. Ben Gomez gets canned and Bill Dimas is still around to coach his 5th dismal season.

  7. A chance to drop Capital?

Ummm ok.. Honestly anyone can beat Capital's softball team.. even a 1A school, have you seen their record?!

I would rather play a challenging team like Espanola then a kill at Capital.. Comm'on going for easy wins to make your record look good.. Thats weak.

  8. Espanola Valley is padding its pre-district record with AA and AAA schools, and are only beating the AA schools.

Plus by playing Capital, the Demonettes won another City Championship!!!

  9. Those are in tournaments.. Invatationals anyway.
Anyway.. We can take districts guaranteed..The question is can Santa Fe?

A city championship? Wow big deal, you deserve a trophy.. but guess what there is no such thing. What is the big deal a 5A school can beat a 4A school?
