NorthStars discussion

The end of the school year might be upon us, but it isn't quite complete - in The New Mexican's eyes – until we've unveiled our athletes of the year selections in our NorthStars section, which will be done Saturday.
It's a year-long process as well, and something we discuss as much in earnest in November as well as in April and May. Now that our end-of-year section is available for public consumption, it's time for you to send us your feedback.
Happy with our selections? Feel that we overlooked a deserving candidate? Or that we chose poorly in a sport? Whatever your feelings are about the section, we would like to know what you think. So, step right up and tell us your feelings and give us your candidates for the 2008-09 school year.
We won't scrap it and do it over again, but at least you have this forum to express yourself. And we at The New Mexican look forward to hearing from you.

  1. Why can't you honor the athletes of the year that each school selected?

  2. How could you possibly have overlooked Jordan Romero, a five year Varsity BB player and all over great kid? It amazes me.
It all amazes me that you covered Capital, SFHS, SF Prep graduations and overlooked SMHS, the oldest school in the southwest - celebrating 150 years of the best education in the state. What's up with that???

  5. I can't say I disagree with Mikey Padilla getting the nod for baseball northstar....but just 1 error behind the plate for the entire season? C'mon James.... you can't just print anything anyone tells you.

  6. James,
I know you dont care for Manuel Trujillo for some reason as you didnt even have the decency to show up when he signed a letter of intent with Adams State . Then you write about All Stars and leave him out.You claim you know sports? The kid was district player of the year, all state first team, North South first team and North MVP. A 2 loss all year wrestler and co athlete of the year. I can see why you chose the guy from Bloomfied as north player of the year in Football being that he had half the stats in football that Manuel did. Thank god for the journal north..... they actually CARE about the local athletes. Maybe you know sports ...but if you do know prep sports than that just means you are extremely inpartial. 11. I think its sad that you put people on there for two years in a row but leave out people who deserve it as well. You covered most schools but left out monte del sol. Their girls track team is amazing and has a state record and Sarah Meade and Kiara Glover both have individual titles. I agree that you picked some amazing track athletes but these girls should be right there with them.
