Class AAAA quarterfinal: No. 5 Los Alamos vs. No. 4 Artesia

Wake up, Hilltoppers.
Los Alamos looks lethargic, much like West Las Vegas girls did during the 11:30 a.m. game on Tuesday. Kirk is admonishing his kids to move!
Ike Montoya already has five points for Artesia,
Bulldogs 13, Los Alamos 5

Halftime

Bulldogs 35,
Hilltoppers 17
Brutal.
That's the only way to describe the first half. Los Alamos looked out of sync, intimidated and lost as times on the court. Outside of Alex Kirk's 12 points, the Hilltopppers had only a Doug Hardy jumper and a Jack Russell 3-pointer.
Los Alamos also didn't seem to be aware of the offensive prowess of Artesia forwards Dallas Bollema and Derek Montoya. The duo has combined for 24 points, eight rebounds and Bollema even had a block of ... Kirk!

An aside, the stands are slowly filling up with Española Valley fans. By my count before the start of this game, 30 Sundevil fans were present in the crowd. Te rest of the state better hurry and grab a seat ...

End of third
Artesia 47, Los Alamos 38
The 'Toppers came alive to start the third quarter. They went on a 9-0 run to get to within 38-30 and hit six of their first seven shots. Since then, the teams have traded baskets.

Fourth quarter, 1:12 left
Artesia 67, Los Alamos 55
The comeback has stalled. Derek Montoya and Dallas Bollema have been too tough to stop in the paint. The duo has scored the last nine points for the Bulldogs.
